2014, you sly fox

So here we are…

Post-holiday doldrums.  The sad, sad calm after the storm.

For some reason, 2014 is making me feel old.  It’s probably because I can vividly recall having celebrated Y2K with a little cosmic bowling and NYSYNC.  It’s just occurring to me that that was FOURTEEN years ago.  Sigh.  So many butterfly clips, so much glitter lipgloss.

I rang in the new year with my handsome fool of a boyfriend, HGTV, and a sip or two of champagne.  You know, like how 80 year olds party.  But do not fret because we woke up early the next morning and WORKED OUT.  Like, I broke a sweat and everything.  And it’s fine because the chocolate candy I’m eating right now doesn’t even count because I was the girl who woke up fresh as a daisy on January 1 and worked out.  That must count for the whole year.

I’m looking forward to 2014 for so many reasons.  I think this year is going to be labeled the year of “Change and Adventure”.  And for the first time, the word change does not rock me to my core.  That is a beautiful thing.  To celebrate this, why don’t we eat some cookies?

I recently bought a new camera and thought there would be no better way to test out some shots than with some chocolate chip cookies.  Then, I decided to get really fancy and throw in some heath bits.  They’re everything.

Especially if you’re dealing with the snowy tundra that is the Midwest, throw together a batch of these cookies.  It will make everything a little better.
